CNN Data Guru Breaks Down Trump’s ‘Absolutely Stunning’ Decline Among Young Voters — Hours After Trump Praised Him at Rally

CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten highlighted President Donald Trump’s “absolutely stunning” drop among young voters just hours after the president played a clip of the stats expert at a rally and praised the reporter.

Enten joined CNN’s John Berman on Thursday morning and broke down the latest data from a Fox News survey, which offered up some of the “worst” polling he had ever seen when it comes to voters 30 and younger.

“They no longer think that Trump is groovy. He’s no longer jiggy with it,” Enten said about young voters, showing Trump’s net approval among them is sitting at negative 50 points.

In October 2024, he was above water by three points among the same group.

“Back in October of 2024, he was three points above water. They liked him more than they disliked him when looking back at how he was doing in term number one. Look at this. Look at this! He’s now 50 points underwater with a group he was positive with. He’s now 50 points underwater. That’s approval minus disapproval. That’s a shift. Johnny B, this is math we can all do. 53 points in the wrong direction amongst a group he was once positive with. It’s absolutely stunning,” Enten reported.

Things look worse when it comes to Trump’s approval on inflation as Americans deal with increased costs amid the ongoing Iran war and the president’s trade wars.

Before the start of the Iran war, the average cost of gas was less than $3 per gallon. It is now sitting around $4.30, according to AAA. The inflation rate has also increased from about 3% in January 2025 to 3.7% now.

For voters 30 and younger, Trump’s approval on inflation is below 10% and his disapproval is 91%.

“There are more Americans who think that we fake the moon landing than the percentage of young voters who actually approve of the job that trump is doing on inflation. These numbers are some of the worst I have ever seen in any poll, on any issue for any president,” Enten said.

Overall, the survey found Trump’s approval sitting at 36% and his disapproval at 64%.

Enten’s blunt analysis of Trump came just hours after the CNN reporter earned praise from Trump. Enten has been one of the few CNN faces to get public compliments from the president.

Trump showed a clip of Enten saying Trump received 99% of the MAGA Republican vote in 2024, with his support among the same group now sitting at 98%.

“That support is really holding up strong,” Enten said.

The clip also highlighted numbers showing more than 50% of Republicans say Trump is the Republican president they most admire, putting him above Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan.

“Oh, thank you. Thank you. That’s an honor. He’s very good. He may not have a job tomorrow, but these are minor details. No, he’s very good,” Trump said about Enten.
