‘Such a Good Point!’ MS NOW Host Applauds Student Who Said You Can’t ‘Blame’ Cornell 7 Because Trump Does ‘Same Thing’
MS NOW anchor Jacob Soboroff applauded a young woman who said you can’t “blame” the “Cornell 7” for committing an alleged gang rape because President Donald Trump is guilty of the “same thing.”
That moment came during a man-on-the-street interview Soboroff did on the Sunday episode of his program, where he talked to students at the University of Southern California about Trump, the Iran war, and the case which has become a national news story in recent weeks.
“It’s just like, our president should be someone who’s setting an example for the rest of the world, especially for the youth that are like, the future of the world,” a student named Melody said. “And when he’s doing like, for example, all I can think of is Cornell 7, and how can you even blame those guys when their president is doing the same thing.”
“Wow, that’s such a good point,” Soboroff told her.
It’s worth pointing out Trump has not been charged with, or convicted of, participating in a gang rape. In the E. Jean Carroll case, Trump was found liable for sexual abuse in civil court, which carries a different definition than rape in New York; Trump has repeatedly denied Carroll’s claim he raped her in a New York City department store in the mid-1990s.
Soborroff followed up by asking if she predicted there will be “any changes” at colleges as a result of the Cornell saga.
“I’m not sure, honestly, that stuff gets revealed all the time and nothing ever happens,” Melody said.
Sunday’s interview comes as the alleged gang rape has become one of the biggest stories in the nation. The Jane Doe in the case has claimed she was too inebriated to consent to some of the group sex and drug use she participated in back in 2024.
She made her rape claim weeks after texting one of her alleged perpetrators, “At the end of the day non [sic] of the sexual stuff was illegal and honestly I really liked being with u” — which, among other messages, has led to many saying the rape claims are bogus; the local DA declined to pursue charges against the seven men accused, but New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) appointed Letitia James as special prosecutor last week to probe it further.
The accuser also filed a civil complaint against the seven male students, as well as Cornell and the Chi Phi fraternity, in September.
