Wigging Out: Royce White Shows Up to Sophie Cunningham’s Indiana Fever Game in Long Locks to ‘Scout Some of The Competition’

Maybe Enes Kanter Freedom was getting too many of the headlines.

Less than a week after Freedom was booted from the sidelines of a WNBA game after a confrontation with Chicago Sky guard Natasha Cloud, long-shot presidential candidate Royce White showed up to take in the league contest Friday night between Sophie Cunningham’s Indiana Fever and the Connecticut Sun

He donned a long, blonde wig for the appearance at Gainbridge Fieldhouse — and got a warm welcome from fans who scrambled to greet and take pictures with the former NBA player, according to Fox News Digital, citing Outkick.

“The Kweeeen has arrived! They better bow for a beautiful Black Trans Lesbian!,” White wrote on X alongside a selfie. “Royce White for President WNBA #LetRoyshaPlay”

White, who along with Freedom has announced he will declare for the WNBA draft, told Outkick he was there to “scout.”

“All hail Queen Roysha, the queen has arrived, it’s great to be here… I’m here because Black trans lesbians matter, and we’ve always mattered, we’ve always existed… I’m here to participate and scout some of the competition maybe as well,” he said.

The 35-year-old White played just three games for the NBA’s Sacramento Kings more than a decade ago before his league career ended.

White announced his presidential bid earlier this month despite having been soundly beaten in Minnesota’s Republican Senate primary race.

He snagged 11.2% of the vote in the primary, finishing a distant third behind Adam Schwarze, who got 24%, and former NFL sideline reporter and victor Michele Tafoya, who earned 52.1% of the vote.

Freedom, meanwhile, has been on a virtual media blitz as he has repeatedly tried to call out the WNBA for its inclusive position on trans athletes.

During a recent appearance on Fox News’ Ingraham Angle, anchor and host Laura Ingraham asked him, “Are you identifying as a woman tonight?”

Both former NBA players have been repeatedly slammed for the stunts, with podcaster Charlamagne Tha God slamming Freedom for “manufacturing a spectacle.”

Journalist and podcaster Stephen A. Smith called out Freedom Tuesday for showing up to a league game and beefing with Cloud.

“It was a classless thing for him to do,” Smith said, “because it’s not– the ladies that are playing don’t have anything to do with this. The league does. Its collective bargaining agreement may be the case. The liberal tilt that it has might be a cause, or a cause effect, to some degree. I get all of that. But the actual ladies that are involved, they have nothing to do with this and they don’t deserve to be agitated the way he clearly was willing to do in attendance at the game.

WNBA star Cunningham kicked off a firestorm when she told ESPN she didn’t support biological men and boys competing against women and girls.

“I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I’m like, ‘I never once said that,’” she told the outlet.

“I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men.”
