Trump Attacks ‘Jealous’ People Keeping Roger Clemens Out of Baseball Hall of Fame: ‘No Wonder Baseball Is in Trouble!’

The commander in chief is playing hardball with Cooperstown.

President Donald Trump went on an absolute tear against Major League Baseball on Wednesday, rebuking the Baseball Writers Association of America for keeping retired pitcher Roger Clemens out of the sport’s Hall of Fame.

As part of an afternoon social media blitz, Trump turned his attention to America’s pastime, listing Clemens’ achievements as an argument for punching his ticket to Cooperstown.

“How about Roger Clemens not being in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York, all because a bunch of jealous people with far less Talent, voted that he shouldn’t be there,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “He was also not convicted, or admitted, to taking Drugs. Roger is easily one of the few Greatest Pitchers of All Time, winning 354 Games, 7 Cy Young Awards (A Record, by 3!), and played in three World Series, winning two! He was third in most Strike-Outs. The Commissioner told me he was going to approve Pete Rose, but he waited long enough until Pete died.”

In closing, he sniped, “No wonder Baseball is in trouble!”

Clemens, who pitched for the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, and Houston Astros in his 24-year career, was one of the most prominent names to emerge from the Mitchell Report when it was released in 2007.

In it, the hurler known as “The Rocket” was accused by several former teammates of taking steroids and human growth hormone.

Clemens denied taking performance-enhancing drugs while testifying before Congress in 2008. As a result, he was indicted on charges of perjury, obstruction of Congress, and making false statements in 2010.

He was acquitted of all charges two years later.

The Truth Social tirade was not the first time Trump has gone to bat for Clemens.

Back in December, the president penned another Truth Social post defending Clemens, as he urged officials to “do the right thing” and induct him into the Hall.

“The Baseball Hall of Fame Committee is voting on admitting new Members TOMORROW, and these highly respected owners, executives, writers, and, most importantly, Hall of Famers, should do the right thing by finally putting Roger Clemens, known as “The Rocket,” in the Hall!” Trump wrote.

The endorsement did little to help Clemens, who was skipped over for the 12th time and removed from consideration on future ballots.
