Michelle Beadle Axed From Sirius XM After Stephen A. Smith Debacle

Radio host Michelle Beadle has been let go by SiriusXM following some harsh criticism in response to Stephen A. Smith’s new show taking her time slot.

Earlier in the week, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Smith would be adding to his already-packed schedule by joining SiriusXM for a pair of shows. The first will be a sports show set to premiere in September; and the other will be focused on pop culture and social commentary.

The sports show will air 1-3 p.m. daily — in direct conflict with the show hosted by Beadle and Cody Decker. Hours after the news broke, Beadle and Decker made their frustration known on SiriusXM airwaves.

Following that show, Beadle continued her attack in an interview with Front Office Sports. She added that she didn’t respect Smith or his work, claiming that Smith didn’t like her.

“I think he gets things wrong all the time,” she said. “I’m not talking about opinions; those can never be wrong. But factually, when you spread yourself so thin, it’s hard to be right. Not a fan.”

On Thursday night, The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand reported that SiriusXM made the decision to part ways with Beadle and Decker. Shortly after the report, Beadle confirmed it with a tweet.

“And we’d like to thank the callers who made the last couple of days an absolute blast!! Truly,” Beadle said. “You don’t usually get such love on your way out. Security usually walks ya to the door. You guys rule. 6 hours of how you felt. And you all were heard! Drinks on me… @Decker6.”
