Trump Leaves Glenn Beck Chuckling as He Doubles Down on Threat to Rename Lake Ontario: ‘We Have a Gulf and a Lake’

President Donald Trump is not backing off his threat to rename Lake Ontario, leaving Glenn Beck chuckling on Wednesday as he spoke out about the ongoing trade war with Canada.

The moment came as Trump called in to the Glenn Beck Program. At one point, Beck asked Trump about the Canada situation.

“It seems to me they had a really good deal, but this is all about the elections, and throwing our elections,” Beck said before asking, “What is happening? Is there a way to end this?”

Trump called Canada “one of the worst countries in the world to deal with,” prompting Beck to interject with a disclaimer.

“Wait, wait, wait — can we say this?” Beck said. “I love Canadians and Canada. I do not like their administration.

Trump agreed, adding, “Well, and the previous administration too, was terrible.”

The president then blasted the country for having “taken advantage of the United States for many decades.”

“They charge tariffs that are unbelievable, like on milk. 400 percent. And I just said, ‘We’re taking them on.’ And I took them on in the beginning, but we had so many other things to do because the country was a mess. But I said, ‘We’re gonna take them on, and we’re gonna stop it.'”

Trump then brought up the Lake Ontario threat, in which Trump said, “The United States is giving serious consideration to changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America in that we don’t expect to doing [sic] much business with Ontario any longer” in a Truth Social post on Tuesday.

“And you saw the Lake Ontario,” Trump told Beck. “People thought I was kidding, but maybe I wasn’t. Because the last one you saw was the Gulf of Mexico. It’s Gulf of America. So now we have a gulf and we have a lake, OK? You know, It’s very simple.”

His words sparked an outburst of laughter from Beck.

Trump went on, saying Canada takes “advantage of us as though they were a state, and they’re not a state. And they’ve taken our car industry and they’ve taken our agriculture industry. You know the farmers can’t sell anything in there because the tariffs are so enormous and yet they wanna sell in us without any tariffs.”

As the president continued, Beck cut Trump off for a commercial.

“So I had a deal that was a pretty good deal. You know, quite good. Because they’re afraid I won’t do any business. They don’t have anything that we have to have, OK? We can get by. I mean there are a couple of things that would be make it a little inconvenient, but we can get them elsewhere. It’s time to teach Canada you can’t do this anymore. We lose $60 billion and really more than that. 60 billion a year with Canada, and –”

“Mr. President, I can’t believe I have to say this to you. I have a network break. You can hold on, but I know you’re busy. I so appreciate your time, sir. I’m sorry that we’re on a network break.”

“Argh, I hate doing that,” Beck added as he launched into a radio ad.
