James Carville Lays Into Elizabeth Warren: ‘Who in the F*ck Is Against Costco?!’

Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville ripped into Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) on Friday and went to the mat to defend Costco.

On his Politicon podcast, Carville argued that Democrats are currently “drowning in salt water” and they need “fresh water” going into 2028. Carville encouraged the party to look for candidates that are not from California, New York, or Massachusetts.

“Cosmopolitan triumphalism or metropolitan arrogance has hurt us and people have recoiled against it,” he said, arguing blue collar workers and voters in Middle America don’t feel any “connection” to Democrats.

He then focused on Warren and her public criticisms of major corporations.

“We do stupid sh*t like I think Sen. Warren came out against Costco? Who in the f*ck is against Costco?! I mean, honestly?!” Carville said.

It wasn’t clear exactly what Carville was referring to, but Warren has long been a vocal critic of big corporations and she’s included Costco as a target in the past.

In 2024, she listed the grocery chain as one of the “massive food conglomerates” that is “ripping people off” with inflated prices. At a hearing this year though, she did highlight some of Costco’s low drug prices while she called out the TrumpRx initiative and its calculation of prices.

“It’s the most integrated place in America,” Carville said about Costco. “I mean, it just is. People go in there, and people have terrible issues with food costs, and this and that. The stuff there is pretty good. I mean, I go.”

Carville warned Democrats against being against corporations simply because they’re “big.” He also noted Costco and co-founder Jim Sinegal have been prominent donors to Democrats. Carville called Costco “historically the most Democratic corporation in America.”

“And we’re against Costco! I mean, give me a freaking break. I mean, really?!?” he said.
