‘I’m Going to Shock You’: Megyn Kelly Thinks Don Lemon Should Run for President

Megyn Kelly revealed Tuesday that she actually believes Don Lemon should seriously consider running for president one day.

On The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly played a recent podcast clip in which he floated the idea of running for public office. In the clip, Lemon said that fans of his regularly ask him if he’d consider pivoting to politics. Lemon admitted that he has “thought about it,” and even declared he’d be better at the job than President Donald Trump. He then said there was a 65-70% chance of him running at some point in his life.

Responding to the clip on her show, Kelly said she was actually in favor of the idea.

“OK, I’m going to shock you,” Kelly said. “I think he should do it! I actually think he should do it. First of all, it’s not a dealbreaker that he has spent his life as a journalist. I mean, you could absolutely parlay that into a career in public service.”

Kelly then went on to argue that, compared to some of the most prominent members of the Democratic Party, Lemon’s intellect was not far off.

“Second of all, do you really think Kamala Harris is a lot smarter than Don Lemon?” Kelly continued. “Do you? I know she was at least a lawyer. She was an attorney general for the state of California. No, I don’t believe so. You think Joe Biden was? I don’t. Are we so enamored with our public officials now, we don’t think somebody like Don Lemon could do it? Honestly, I’m not. I actually think, yeah he could match wits against [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] just fine!”
