Newsmax Host Slams ‘Brain Dead’ Bill Burr for Defending Illegal Immigrants
Newsmax host Rob Schmitt branded Bill Burr a “brain dead celebrity” who doesn’t understand the simple principles of supply and demand, after the comic argued it was dumb to blame illegal immigrants for rising housing costs.
Schmitt called out Burr on his Friday night show, a few days after Burr made his argument to Rolling Stone.
“Listen, the reason why, you know, people can’t afford a house is not because of some illegal immigrant who’s making less than minimum wage. I mean, that is basic math, okay,” Burr said. “There is a finite amount of money, okay. So if one person is taking 90% of it, eventually, you know, people have to live under a bridge.”
Schmitt cracked up at Burr saying it was “basic math” after playing a clip of Burr’s interview. He then said Burr was dead wrong.
“Is the only reason that houses are very expensive and rent is very expensive right now [because of] illegal immigrants? No,” Schmitt said. “Are they a part of the equation? Absolutely!”
He continued, “You dump 10 million or 15 million new people into a country, the upward pressure that puts on the cost of housing — again, very simple, basic economics. Not that comedians study this stuff very often.”
A moment earlier, Schmitt highlighted the Department of Homeland Security announcing rent prices had dropped big time in cities where ICE carried out major deportation operations. DHS claimed rent prices have dropped 4.8% in San Antonio, 8% in New Orleans, and 4.2% in Phoenix, among other cities.
“It’s simple: it’s supply and demand,” Schmitt said. “When you remove millions of people that don’t belong in this country, housing becomes more available, housing becomes cheaper.”
He then pivoted to bashing Burr. The segment followed Burr going fairly viral for another moment in his Rolling Stone interview this week, where he claimed American CEOs should “examine” their actions and how they could spur someone like Luigi Mangione to murder them.
