WATCH: Wind Wreaks Havoc on a Jamie Raskin MS NOW Live Hit — As Crew Races to Hold Up Collapsing Tent

Rep. Jamie Raskin’s (D-MD) live MS NOW hit from the Iowa State Fair got off to a blustery start as strong winds threatened to destroy the set and blow everyone away.

MS NOW’s Jacob Soboroff introduced Raskin and Skye Perryman, the president and CEO of Democracy Forward, to discuss President Donald Trump’s new mail-in voting scheme right before the midterms.

As Raskin started to talk, the winds could be seen kicking up behind and around him, with Raskin stopping at one point to raise his his arms over his head as the tent he was under began to collapse.

“You guys be careful out there! It looks like you got a little bit of a tempest happening out in Iowa. We need you and we need you for the democracy,” Soboroff said.

As Soboroff asked his next question, the wind could be heard battering Raskin and Perryman’s microphones.

“So, if I heard you properly, Jacob…,” Raskin continued as a crew member walked behind Perryman’s whipping hair to try to secure the tent.

At this point, Raskin had to yell to talk over the aggressive gusts.

“All of this is about Donald Trump’s wounded feelings about the 2020 election and his attempt to try to control who’s going to win in Congress,” Raskin said. “But as we’re finding out here on the road, the Democrats are mobilizing and organizing everywhere, even in the middle of, you know, tornadoes or what have you, to win back Congress!”

“Well, on that note, Congressman Raskin and Skye, I’m just watching this right now. Let’s take a quick break. We’ll go to commercial. I want to make sure you guys are safe out there!” Soboroff said.

Raskin posted about the experience to X on Sunday along with another camera angle of the hit — which showed a number of alert team members scrambling to keep the tent from falling.

“Just as the interview started, a freak weather event threatened to bring our tent down on live TV,” Raskin wrote. “Thanks to Team Raskin, the MSNOW crew, and a few good samaritan passers-by for your quick reflexes and for keeping our interview with Jacob Soboroff going.”
