VIDEO: Woman Directly Behind Vance Collapses During Nebraska Rally, VP Leads Audience in Prayer
Vice President JD Vance led a Nebraska rally audience in prayer Thursday after a woman collapsed in the stands directly behind him.
Vance was in the middle of talking about “men in women’s sports” when people behind him could be seen yelling for help.
“All right, looks like we got a medical issue, everybody. So, let’s just say a prayer and hope everybody’s OK,” Vance said after turning to monitor the situation.
“Hey, to my team. Grab the doctor,” Vance said into the microphone as a police officer was seen behind him assisting the woman. Some rallygoers near the woman used their campaign placards as makeshift fans.
“We’ll all stay calm and let these great doctors and law enforcement do their jobs,” Vance said.
A few minutes later, Vance said, “Well, everybody, while they’re working on her, maybe those who are of the praying type would join me in a prayer.”
Vance then made the sign of the cross and began “The Lord’s Prayer.”
Someone in the crowd yelled, “Thank you, JD!”
The vice president raised his fist in acknowledgement, while others applauded.
“How’s she doing?” he asked before making his way into the stands to check on the woman.
As he returned to the podium, the crowd chanted, “48! 48!” in support of Vance as the 48th president.
Vance said, “OK, all right. Let me leave you with three quick things. Number one, first of all, praise to be God. She’s doing fine, she’s doing fine,” he said to applause.
“Now, second of all, they may want to take her out of here on an ambulance,” Vance said. “So, I’m going to ask maybe somebody afterwards to give some direction to the crowd. Because if we want to maybe just keep everybody here so they can take her out in peace and comfort, we would very much appreciate that.”
“And the third thing, I will say is, this is apparently, she just told me, is her first rally. And given that she had a lot of fun but then not so much fun at the end of her first rally, the best way that we can repay her is one by letting her get out of here to focus on her health and number two, by electing Pete Ricketts!”
With that, Vance said he’d be back soon, and left the stage.
Later, Vance posted to X, “My prayers are with the woman who had a medical emergency at today’s rally in Nebraska. I hope she has a speedy recovery. Thank you to the medical staff and first responders who reacted swiftly to make sure she was taken care of, and to the crowd for making sure she was able to be attended to.”
President Donald Trump made a bizarre claim last week about White House doctors refusing to help rallygoers who fall ill.
“You know what they call ’em? Collateral damage,” Trump said. “If that person right over there, a friend of mine. He looks like sh*t, actually. He looks like he’s ready to have a heart attack. If he actually had a heart attack, you know what my doctors would do that follow the president, all presidents? They would leave him alone,” the president claimed.
“I’d say, ‘Please help him.’ ‘No, sir. We can’t leave your side,’ I said, ‘But he’s dying of a heart attack.’ ‘Sir, he’s collateral damage.’ Can you believe it?”
