UK Newspaper Busts Trump for Pushing Clip ‘Edited’ to Show King Charles ‘Ignoring’ a Worker Who Fainted

President Donald Trump shared a video Monday portraying King Charles III as callously walking away from a man who collapsed in front of him, part of a montage meant to depict himself as the “people’s president” – but a U.K. newspaper called out the clip as “edited” to omit the monarch’s efforts to help.

Trump posted the three-minute video to Truth Social, where it contrasted supposedly indifferent behavior from prominent world leaders with footage presenting Trump as “the people’s president.”

In one clip, French President Emmanuel Macron was shown walking past a collapsed ceremonial guard, while former President Joe Biden was depicted apparently checking his watch during a ceremony. Footage of former President Barack Obama’s 2014 “latte salute” controversy was stitched in too, when he saluted Marines while holding a coffee cup.

The president’s conduct, meanwhile, was contrasted with other apparently uncaring world leaders, as he was shown greeting troops and police officers, honoring fallen service members and embracing veterans.

Among the world leaders unflatteringly featured, however, was Charles during a 2020 visit to a supermarket distribution center in England, before he was crowned king. The edited sequence shows a worker fainting in front of Charles before the royal puts his hand in his pocket and appears to walk away.

According to The Telegraph, however, the original longer clip showed Charles reaching out his arm in an attempt to catch the worker as he fell before remaining nearby, visibly concerned, while the man received medical assistance.

The newspaper reported that the royal only moved away after his security team reassured him that the worker was OK. The man subsequently recovered and resumed his conversation with Charles.

The conservative outlet noted that it was unclear whether Trump was aware that the montage gave a misleading impression of the incident.

The Telegraph noted that the inclusion is particularly strange given Trump’s long-standing affection for the Royal family and his repeated praise for Charles.
