Trump Insists He Alone Will Protect Americans from AI: Only Guardrail You Need is a ‘STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT!’

President Donald Trump assured Americans that a “STRONG AND SMART” leader like himself is all we need to ward off the threat from AI, days after an outgoing researcher warned that it “could kill us all.”

Speaking out on Truth Social on Monday, the president posted: “The only control or “guardrails” that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades! The Trump Administration has stopped AI “people” from doing bad, or potentially bad, “things,“ like Dario (Anthropic!), who is now pretending to be a “perfect little angel” – and we will continue to do so! We already have tremendous CRIMINAL and REGULATORY power over these companies!

He added: “There is a SICK conspiracy going on against AI and Data Centers, and the only one that is happy about it is China. WHOEVER WINS AI, WINS! We are leading China, and all others, and will continue to do so. Conspiracy Theorists, Treasonists, Traitors, and Leakers, BEWARE! Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Trump’s rant came nearly a week after now-former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon announced his resignation in an explosive X post.

“I resigned from Anthropic today,” Coxon wrote. “I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives.”

He went on to warn that “the people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt.”

On Saturday, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei cautioned that “we must slow down the pace” of AI in a lengthy statement.

In it, Amodei expressed concern over a security breach involving AI back in July, where autonomous AI agents under testing by OpenAI launched a coordinated cyberattack on AI developer Hugging Face.

Amodei also claimed that AI agents are becoming a “fanatically devoted collective” with some “sacrificing themselves for the success of the group, and attempting to hack into the ‘grader’ responsible for evaluating their performance.”
