Trump Asks Americans to Vote on Name Replacement for AI in Puzzling Poll: ‘Very Ineloquent’

President Donald Trump wants people to help him pick a new name to replace “artificial intelligence,” which he slammed as “inaccurate” and “very ineloquent.”

In a Truth Social post on Saturday, the president laid out three alternative names to replace AI: Super Intelligence, Extreme Intelligence, and Supreme Intelligence.

“Many people think that the words ‘Artificial Intelligence’ are inaccurate, and very ineloquent, relative to AI, or Artificial Intelligence. A far more elegant and accurate description of this new phenomena would be Superior Intelligence (SI) or, Extreme Intelligence (EI) or, Supreme Intelligence (SI). This is a Poll, and I would appreciate everybody voting! Which is the best name for this ever growing ‘Revolution?'” Trump wrote.

The term “artificial intelligence” originated in 1955 and was introduced by Stanford professor John McCarthy. He described it as “the science and engineering of making intelligent machines.”

It is not clear how Trump’s proposed name changes would be applied to a whole industry.

Trump regularly uses AI for posts he makes on Truth Social.

Trump’s question on how exactly to refer to AI comes amid growing concerns inside and outside of the industry.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei warned in a lengthy statement last week that companies must slow down the pace of AI and there needs to be more oversight, or rogue AI agents could “take over” the entire internet within 12 months. Tech leaders like Elon Musk and Sam Altman backed Amodei’s call for a pace slowdown.

The CEO’s warning followed an Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon going viral for resigning and laying out his fears about the industry in public statements. Coxon believes the technology is advancing so rapidly that it could “kill us all” within 10 years.

Trump has dismissed these concerns, repeatedly declaring that the U.S. must beat countries like China on the AI front. He’s called doomsday fears about the technology a “hoax.”

The president made a similar statement on Saturday, following up his poll question with a rant on AI being the next “revolution.”

He wrote:

Over the years, there have been many Hoaxes, all generated by the Radical Left Dumocrats, for purposes of destroying our Country. RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA, UKRAINE, UKRAINE, UKRAINE, Global Warming, Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2, Men in Women’s Sports, Transgender for Everyone, and now, the decimation, or destruction, of AI, commonly known as Artificial Intelligence — And I, as President of the United States, will not stand by and let this happen. It all began with an attack on our Data Centers, until people realized how wealthy and prestigious they were for the Communities in which they were built. Higher Salaries, Lower Taxes, and Safer Streets, was the result, and the crazed Data Center attack has largely failed, so now, in much the same way as they changed the term “Global Warming” to “Climate Change,” in that it covers a much larger “territory” of doubt, they are going straight at AI. We will not in any way hinder or stifle the Growth of this incredible Industry. Rather, we will cherish it, help it, and watch over it, as it grows! However, we will also be looking for BAD, and we can do that, very easily, with our already existing Criminal and Civil Justice System. For this purpose, I am forming the AI Force, much like I did Space Force, which has been a tremendous SUCCESS, in my First Term. To that end, I will be announcing, in the near future, the AI “Czar” — Only High I.Q. individuals need apply! AI is the next Industrial Revolution, or Internet, but will be even larger and more impactful, possibly as much as 25% of our Country’s GDP. We are leading China, and the rest of the World, and I intend to keep it that way!
