Social media has been full of tributes from conservatives for Charlie Kirk on the one-year anniversary of his assassination, including from the White House.

“One year ago, we tragically lost a fearless patriot. A champion for freedom and for our country. Charlie Kirk changed the course of American history. His courage, conviction, and love of country will never be forgotten,” reads a statement from the White House.

They also released a video titled “America Misses Charlie Kirk,” which included Kirk’s famous “FREEDOM” t-shirt hanging on a clothes line while audio of him from various events plays out.

“We love you CK, and miss you every day,” Vice President JD Vance added in his own post to X.

Kirk was shot and killed on September 10, 2025 at Utah Valley University during a Turning Point USA event. Accused killer Tyler Robinson has pleaded not guilty to all seven charges against him and is awaiting a trial date.

Turning Point USA also marked the anniversary with multiple statements. They will be holding a ceremony in remembrance on Kirk on Thursday evening at Utah Valley University. It begins at 8:30 p.m. EST and airs the same night President Donald Trump will be speaking at the second time of his Dallas GOP midterm convention. The Kirk event has earned some protests from students.

Multiple administration officials released tributes on Thursday morning, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Attorney General Todd Blanche.

Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade and Rachel Campos-Duffy both agreed on Fox & Friends that Kirk was on a “path” to the White House, either as president or vice president, a point echoed by some on social media, including podcaster Patrick Bet-David.

“He was a unifier. He was fearless. He was a great example for young men. He was a man of faith. He was an anomaly. I believe he would’ve eventually become President of the United States,” Bet-David wrote on X. “May he continue to rest in peace.”

Others remembered Kirk as a friend and “buddy” and applauded the work he did in reaching young people with the message of conservatism.

“One year ago today. RIP Charlie – we miss you, brother,” CNN commentator Scott Jennings wrote.

“One year later, we remember our friend, Charlie Kirk. We will never forget his life, his legacy, or his immeasurable impact on America,” House Speaker Mike Johnson wrote in another post.

“He was a good man, who fought honorably for the things he believed in. He left more of a legacy in 31 years than most could dream to leave in 100 lifetimes. We’re lucky to have had him for the time that we did,” Libertarian comic Dave Smith wrote.

Outkick host Tomi Lahren encouraged conservatives to put their disagreements to the side for the day to honor Kirk’s legacy.

“It’s a tough day for many of us who knew and worked with Charlie. I know he’s looking down on us and I hope this movement continues to make him proud. We don’t always agree and the debate is a good thing. Perhaps today we can set our little disagreements aside and just honor Charlie for all he did and all he inspired us to do,” she wrote.
