Three-Time Trump Voter Tells Newsmax That President Isn’t Putting ‘America First’
Some die-hard Donald Trump supporters are abandoning ship over what they perceive as Trump’s lack of commitment to the “America First” agenda.
Conservative network Newsmax is crossing the country, talking to voters before the midterms about what issues they want politicians to fix.
A three-time Trump voter in Boston, Karen Bolger, said she’s been supporting Trump from the very beginning, but is unsure of where the president’s priorities are in 2026.
“I believed in him since 2015. I still do, but I would I would love to see a little more America First, because right now it feels like it’s ‘world first’ rather than country,” Bolger said.
Correspondent Andrew Craft described Bolger as “a mother, grandmother, and a retired nurse on the cusp of barely getting by, making just enough to not qualify for federal assistance.”
“We have very, very high utility costs in Massachusetts, very high,” Bolger said. “And I worry about those costs. Being able to heat my home, being able to pay for the electricity. The costs have just skyrocketed.”
Craft said Bolger “laments the fact that she lives in a blue state and a blue city, watching prices go up and urban decay worsening. All of that, she says, is a perfect recipe for the young to turn to socialism.”
“I think young people, especially, they’re having difficulty surviving, moving out of their parents’ home, ever buying a home, affording health insurance,” Bolger said. “And I’m concerned that that’s driving them towards socialism because the, you know, ‘you’ll have everything you need. It will be free.’ You know, that is going to be attractive to young kids who went to college. They studied hard and now they can’t get good jobs.”
Bolger said that continued “Republican leadership that is more in touch with the people, the America First agenda,” could save the country, and believes J.D. Vance could be the man to follow.
“Do you think there’s someone right now who represents America First more than the president at this current state?” Craft asked.
“J.D. Vance…I feel that he is more in touch with the American people right now. And he’s really coming into his own, I think,” Bolger said. “And he’s, you know, being more vocal and just really reaching out to the American public. And I feel that he’s just relatable.”
