‘Should Be Executed’: Trump Gets Called Out in Court By Lindsay Clancy’s Lawyer for Attacks Against Her
President Donald Trump was called out in court by Lindsay Clancy’s lawyer Kevin Reddington Tuesday morning for allegedly encouraging attacks against her on social media.
Reddington, who is attempting to convince Judge William Sullivan in part that the case should be dismissed, launched into a lengthy explanation for his position. At one point, he referenced the staggering amount of attacks against Clancy, who admitted to killing her three young children in January 2023.
Reddington specifically requested bifurcation, which is the process of separating the case into two distinct parts.
He explained:
Now, many, many laypeople have difficulty understanding the concept of the bifurcation and say, ‘Well, you know, she admitted that she did it, so she’s guilty. And therefore she’s just guilty’. And then they go off on a tangent about all of these horrific allegations, you know, that she’s a demon and she’s possessed and she should be executed, and this is coming from politicians, you know, from President Trump all the way down.
Such commentary impacted the scope of the case and Reddington’s ability to best represent his client, he continued.
“I tried to raise the issue the best we could, on the issue of probable cause,” he continued. “The jury was instructed by you that they did have the obligation to make a determination as to whether or not the government has presented evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt, that this young woman was actually guilty of this offense.”
Clancy admitted to the strangling deaths of Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, in a separate civil case. Her legal team has argued she is not guilty by reason of insanity, and pointed to a myriad of medications she was prescribed to combat and solve mental health concerns and conditions she faced in the months preceding the deaths.
Sullivan declared a mistrial in Clancy’s first trial after a 12-person jury was unable to agree on a verdict.
On Sept. 4, Trump said, “Look, she did a horrible, horrible thing. Can’t be worse. But you’ll find out what the price to pay is. There’ll be a price. It’s going to be mental institution or jail or something.”
