Shocking Video Shows Staffer for Republican Rep. Nicole Malliotakis Slammed by Lightning Strike

As if it wasn’t tough enough to find motivation to visit the dentist.

A staffer for Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) was hit by lightning while walking to an appointment for his pearly whites — and it was all caught on video obtained by WNBC and later shared on Fox News.

Thomas Fahmy was about 15 or 20 feet from his car when he was hit, he told the station.

He can first be seen in the footage strolling along the sidewalk in the Todt Hill neighborhood of Staten Island, umbrella in hand, moments before Mother Nature unleashed the fiery bolt that sent him dropping like a rock to the ground.

The clip of the Aug. 27 incident revealed a heart-stopping sound reverberating before fire suddenly crackles through the air, and Fahmy is struck.

He stayed conscious throughout the ordeal, he told WNBC, describing how the bolt from out the blue left him with “this very intense burning sensation. Tingling, numbness, pain, severe pain, in both my feet.”

Fahmy managed to stand and make his way to a nearby home, where he climbed the stoop and rang the doorbell, pleading for help.

“I was afraid that another strike would happen, and really my life would be in danger again,” he said.

Resident Stephanie Homan rushed to help Fahmy, telling WNBC, “I heard, ‘Help me, help me,’ so I ran to my door and saw him on the ground.”

He was brought to Northwell Staten Island University Hospital and released the next day, the outlet reported.

Malliotakis issued a statement thanking Homan.

“We are grateful that Thomas, a member of my congressional staff is alive and well after being struck by lightning last week. I thank the Good Samaritan who ran to his aid and the medical staff at Staten Island University Hospital who treated him.”
