Patrick Clancy’s Deleted Reddit Posts Give Look Into Wife’s Increasingly Troubling Behavior Before Murders: Report

Posts from a deleted Reddit account reportedly belonging to Patrick Clancy give a glimpse into the downward mental spiral of his wife that ultimately ended in the murder of their three children.

The New York Post’s Gabrielle Fahmy dropped a report this week detailing some of the posts Clancy made from a Reddit account that was active since 2017 until last year. The account was posted to just a day before the murders with Clancy often seeking help for his wife, Lindsay Clancy, and her deteriorating mental state.

Lindsay Clancy’s trial recently came to a standstill when the judge said he had no choice but to call a mistrial after the jury became deadlocked, with just one holdout. A hearing is set for September 29.

Clancy was charged with murdering her three children, five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson, and eight-month-old Callan.

Clancy strangled all three children on January 24, 2023 with exercise bands and then threw herself out a window in a suicide attempt, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. Her defense team argued the murders were brought on by psychosis that was fueled bi postpartum depression, wrong diagnoses, and medications.

In a December 7, 2022 post to Reddit, Patrick Clancy spoke about his wife taking the antidepressent Zoloft.

In the AskDocs subreddit, Patrick Clancy said he was “posting for my wife” and wrote, “I suspect this medication was never needed in the first place (Zoloft was my own idea), but my psychiatrist is saying I’m exhibiting signs of bipolar disorder.”

On December 9, Patrick Clancy asked, “Has your [medication] experience ever involved thoughts of hurting others, including loved ones? Did you ever feel like you came close to acting on them? Or were they just thoughts?”

Lindsay Clancy was eventually moved to other medications like Ativan and Prozac.

“I can’t stress enough that her anxiety was very mild going into this,” Patrick Clancy posted on December 6 in a psychiatry-themed subreddit.

He added, “She was eating well, sleeping great at usual, dancing at the wedding we went to and socializing.”

By December 15, he posted that his wife was “severely depressed, numb, don’t really care about anything . . . even had suicidal thoughts.”

By December 20, Lindsay Clancy had been turned away from a postpartum depression program with doctors saying she needed different treatment for her psychological issues. She was admitted to McLean Hospital 10 days later and released on January 5.

The last post to the account was January 23, the day before the murders. Patrick Clancy was asking about creating an app to help with an open house.
