‘No Bueno!’ CNN Data Guru Warns ‘Republicans Should Be Running Scared’ Over Working-Class Latino Support
CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten broke down President Donald Trump’s plummeting support among working-class Latino voters ahead of the midterm elections.
Enten began the Tuesday morning segment by noting Trump gained historic support among that group of voters in the 2024 election. Against former Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump actually won working-class Latinos by a point.
Since then, however, that support has evaporated, according to Enten:
No bueno if you’re the president of the United States, because just take a look here: working-class Latinos, he had a massive breakthrough in 2024. He won working-class Latinos, he won non-college Latino voters by a point over Kamala Harris. That’s a major breakthrough for a Republican president or Republican running for president.
But that win that he had? Adios, amigos. Goodbye, see you later. Look at his net approval rating now in an average of polls — CNN, SSRS polls across 2026 — he’s 42 points underwater! That is a switcheroo, Kate Bolduan, of what, 43 points shifting away from the President of the United States. His support rapidly declining, plummeting among working-class Latinos, a group that helped get him elected back in 2024.
That support has cratered primarily due to Trump’s handling of immigration. In 2024, non-college Latino voters trusted Trump over Harris by a margin of nine points. In 2026, Trump’s net approval on the issue dropped to -47.
Enten then pointed to highly-anticipated Senate election between James Talarico (D)and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), noting that Talarico’s polling edge with non-college Latino voters mirrored the margin by which Trump won the same group in the state in 2024.
He added:
Donald Trump won that vote by 15 points, but we have a key Senate race going on between Democrat James Talarico and Republican Ken Paxton. Look at this: James Talarico is up by 13 points among non-college Latinos in the great state of Texas. That is a shift away of 28 points, and this is the type of movement that could help James Talarico become the first Democrat to win a Senate race in Texas since 1988. You put together these big gains with working class Latinos for James Talarico, along with those massive gains among whites with a college degree in Texas, and that is a winning formula for Democrats in Texas. Republicans should be running scared. Ken Paxton should be running scared. These are the types of numbers that make history for Democrats.
