Donald Trump’s new press secretary, Katie Zacharia, apparently deleted past social media posts pushing some of the president’s most most controversial talking points in the days before she was tapped for her new position behind the press room podium.

The Bulwark unearthed Zachariah’s old posts from a Twitter account she deleted in 2022, as well as from her current account. Bulwark editor Brendan Hartnett used the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine to find some of the deleted tweets.

In one from June 2025, Zacharia demanded the U.S. “suspend habeas corpus,” which Hartnett called “one of the oldest and most fundamental safeguards of individual liberty.” Her tweet came in response to Trump White House aide Stephen Miller’s contention that sanctuary cities were “engaged in a criminal conspiracy” to “end the sovereignty of the United States.”

In another now-deleted tweet, Zacharia argued that, “The federal government under @realDonaldTrump should take over all of California because clearly you can’t be trusted to do a single thing.”

From her now-deleted Twitter account, Zacharia accused Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates of being “a eugenicist” for insisting that Americans get the Covid vaccine.

And in another deleted post, Zacharia responded to Pizzagate conspiracy theorist Mike Cernovich, warning that the midterms would be a “bloodbath if [Republicans] don’t shift course now.”

Zachariah is an attorney who served as spokeswoman for previous Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and worked as a communications adviser to Trump Media and Technology Group, which runs Truth Social.

Hartnett didn’t give any reasoning for Zacharia deleting the posts, writing only, “In those roles, and in her personal capacity, Zacharia has often made public remarks and online posts that could create uncomfortable questions for her when she takes the podium in the White House press briefing room.”

Zacharia’s current posts appear to be just as super-MAGA as the deleted ones.

She posted, “Deport them all,” on Oct. 4 in response to a story blaming “Somali gangs” for recent shootings in Minneapolis.

On Oct. 2, Zacharia posted that Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts was “not even that conservative” as proven by “his position on birthright citizenship.”

Zacharia was also “very excited” about Paramount buying Warner Bros. Discovery, writing, “Congratulations to @davidellison!”

In addition, Zacharia embraced Trump’s demand that Artificial Intelligence be heretofore referred to as “Super Intelligence.”

Trump announced Friday that he appointed Zacharia as the 37th White House press secretary. Her predecessor, Karoline Leavitt, stepped down in August and is reportedly joining Fox News as a contributor.

The White House press office responded to a request for comment by referring Mediaite to Trump’s Truth Social account.
