President Donald Trump’s approval rating has hit an all-time record low in a major poll — as two-thirds of Americans believe he’s “using the presidency to enrich himself.”

According to a new Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll out Sunday, the president’s job approval stands at 33 percent. That number is a record low for that particular survey. It is also in line with other major polls of late — including a Sunday NBC News poll that puts Trump at 34 percent. Nate Silver’s current tracking, which averages all major surveys, shows Trump’s approval at 37.5 percent.

But beyond the grim approval numbers, the headline takeaway is the stunning finding that 66 percent of Americans flat out believe Trump is “using the presidency to enrich himself.”

“Eight in 10 think it is inappropriate that he has pushed to put his name on the Kennedy Center in Washington (59 percent view this as “completely inappropriate”), and 74 percent say it’s inappropriate that the federal government paid for television ads promoting Trump and his policies,” the Post noted in its report. “Overall, 66 percent said they see Trump as ‘too extreme.'”

And what might that mean for the upcoming midterms? The poll asked voters “whether they would rather have a Democratic-led Congress acting as a check on Trump or a Republican one to support his agenda.” Fifty-eight percent preferred the Democratic Congress, while just 39 percent preferred a Republican legislature.
