House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is expected to meet with Elon Musk next week as the midterm elections loom, according to a report in Politico.
The outlet cited four sources who confirmed the planned meeting, while cautioning that Musk’s schedule is “fluid,” according to the outlet.
Musk notoriously spent a whopping $277 million to boost GOP candidates in 2024 and frequently inserted himself into the election cycle, and was later heavily involved in DOGE or the Department of Governmental Efficiency.
The Space X owner is thinking of doling out $100 million this election year via his America PAC, Politico reported.
America PAC declined comment to Politico. Johnson’s spokesperson did not immediately respond to Mediaite’s request for comment.
The Republican Party has a massive cash advantage over Democrats with the midterm elections less than 70 days away.
According to reports, the Republican National Committee has about $130 million cash in hand, compared to a relatively measly $16 million for the Democratic National Committee.
Any spending by Musk, Politico noted, would only add to the GOP’s financial edge as stinging polls show voters are increasingly discontented.
