Mediaite Hires Ana Marie Cox and Brad Slager as New Columnists

From its founding in 2009 through today, Mediaite has always tried to clearly distinguish between fact and opinion pieces. We are well aware that with opinion content many, including our own staff, won’t necessarily agree with the position or “take” of the writer. That is why we note at the bottom: “This is an opinion piece. The views expressed in this article are those of just the author.” But regardless of the position, they have to be smart. In a perfect world, really smart, unique and from both sides of the political aisle. Today, I’m excited to share that we’ve hired two superb columnists to move us forward in that mission — one on the Left, one on the Right.

First, we’re elated to have Ana Marie Cox coming on board. Ever since serving as the founding editor of Wonkette starting in 2004, Ana Marie’s byline has been omnipresent on the pages of America’s top publications. She’s had a regular column in The New York Times Magazine, she’s been a Washington correspondent for GQ and spent the past few years serving as a contributing editor to The New Republic. She’s written for Time, The Guardian, Mother Jones, and so many others. She’s been a top correspondent for MTV, hosted a podcast for Crooked Media, developed an award-winning podcast ahead of the 2024 election. Quite simply, she’s done it all. And now, she’s returning to daily media criticism from the Left, bringing her sharp insights to Mediaite — and we couldn’t be more excited.

And from the Right, you may have already seen the byline of Brad Slager in recent days. Brad has written for The Federalist, Town Hall, Red State, and many others. He’s spent the past decade with Town Hall media — where he’s contributed across numerous verticals in a variety of ways. From daily columns, to podcasting and beyond, Brad has become one of the Right’s most prolific media critics. He’s gone after the sacred cows without fear or favor — delivering unique insight in a punchy, fun-to-read style that’s sure to make him a powerful hero or villain depending on your political persuasion.

What’s more, both Brad and Ana Marie — as experienced on-air personalities — will be regularly contributing to our YouTube channel as we begin to ramp up our offerings. (And stay tuned because we expect to have another big announcement on that front in the coming days!)

This is an incredibly exciting time for Mediaite. While others have stagnated, our brand continues to grow at a rapid pace, and our new additions will help accelerate that growth even further.
