Marjorie Taylor Greene Praises Nancy Pelosi, Who She Once Called a Traitor And Guilty of Treason

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) offered praise for Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), whom she once called a “traitor.”

During an appearance on CNN’s The Situation Room on Thursday, Greene spoke about Pelosi’s retirement with hosts Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown.

“She’s been in Congress for almost 40 years. She’s 85 years old,” Blitzer said of Pelosi before asking Greene what she thought of the retirement announcement.

“Well, my reaction is I believe in term limits. And I co-sponsored that bill. And it’s been decades now that I believe we have seen the failure in Washington, D.C.,” Greene said.

“However, I will praise Nancy Pelosi,” Greene continued. “She had an incredible career for her party. I served under her speakership in my first term of Congress, and I’m very impressed at her ability to get things done. I wish we could get things done for our party, like Nancy Pelosi was able to deliver for her party. So, I wish her well in her retirement, but I would like to see people exit Washington a lot sooner rather than wait until they’re 80.”

Greene hasn’t always been so complimentary, however.

While under oath in April 2022, Greene was called out for having referred to Pelosi as a “traitor to our country.”

In 2022, Greene was sued by Free Speech for People, a campaign-finance reform organization, who accused her of violating the 14th Amendment by helping facilitate the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. The group argued that Greene helped foment the riots and was therefore ineligible to run for reelection in Georgia.

On the stand, Greene denied ever calling Pelosi a traitor until the attorney asked the court to display “Exhibit 5.”

“Oh no, wait, hold on now,” Greene reversed course, as the court viewed a Facebook video of Greene saying of Pelosi:

She’s a traitor to our country, she’s guilty of treason. She took an oath to protect American citizens and uphold our laws. And she gives aid and comfort to our enemies who illegally invade our land. That’s what treason is. And by our law representatives and senators can be kicked out and no longer serve in our government. And it’s, uh, it’s a crime punishable by death is what treason is. Nancy Pelosi is guilty of treason.
