Lawyer for Lindsay Clancy’s Husband Shreds ‘Campaign of Misinformation’ Suggesting He’s to Blame for Kids’ Horrific Murder: ‘Enough Is Enough’

A lawyer for Patrick Clancy, the ex-husband of accused child killer Lindsay Clancy, has issued a scathing statement slamming a “campaign of misinformation” across social media, suggesting that he was involved in the murder of his three children.

Howard Cooper, Patrick Clancy’s attorney, released the lengthy statement days after a mistrial was declared in the shocking murder case that rocked a Massachusetts town and reverberated across the country.

Throughout the closely watched legal saga, social media became a hotbed of conspiracy theories, with many implying that Patrick Clancy, who is now remarried, played a part in the killing of his three kids, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan.

“Over the past months, Patrick Clancy and his family have been subjected to a relentless, escalating and destructive defamation campaign,” Cooper said in a statement released on Tuesday. “This campaign of misinformation has been launched and promoted by minor celebrities, so-called influencers and outright conspiracy theorists who appear intent on boosting their own social media profiles and potential profit by publishing what they know to be outright falsehoods that Patrick was somehow involved in the death of his young children and other vile claims.”

The statement went on:

This campaign, now fueled by insatiable media coverage, remains at a fever pitch and has resulted in real life threats to his reputation, livelihood, and life.  Patrick has no choice but to address this situation – with the clear goal of stopping injurious behavior, creating accountability for lies that are self-serving to the perpetrators, and being able to return his attention to what matters: preserving the memory of Cora, Dawson and Callan Clancy and supporting other women facing perinatal mental health challenges.

Enough is enough — this spread of blatant and baseless falsehoods must stop. Those responsible should understand that there will be consequences, and every appropriate measure will be pursued to hold them accountable, including legally.  Law enforcement has been notified.

Clancy admitted strangling each of the three children with an exercise band in January 2023 before throwing herself off a second-story window in the couple’s Duxbury, Massachusetts, home.

The trial, which sought to determine whether she killed her children intentionally or while under the throes of postpartum psychosis, concluded in a mistrial on Friday after more than six days of jury deliberations.

Prosecutors now have the option of retrying the case with a new jury, levying different charges, or offering Lindsay Clancy a plea deal. They could also decline to retry the case altogether.
