Laura Loomer Has Bizarre Take After Armed Maniac Lunges at Gov Candidate: ‘Should Change Her Name to Amy Smollett”

Right-wing provocateur Laura Loomer has claimed Democrats are “lying” about a disturbing incident in which a man armed with two guns and brass knuckles lunged at Ohio gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton (D) while she was speaking at a local fair — to distract from Acton’s alleged “drinking.”

The episode unfolded Sunday afternoon in Canfield, Ohio, about an hour east of Akron, when Patrick Havas allegedly began pushing his way through a crowd listening to the Democratic candidate.

Havas, 38, was apparently so eager to get to the former pediatrician and head of the state health department that he allegedly shoved two people to the ground as he made his way toward the candidate, according to reports.

He was holding up a cellphone and recording during the incident and was later arrested on assault and disorderly conduct charges, according to police, who told local station WLWT5 that Havas had two handguns and brass knuckles on him at the time.

Loomer posted a message on X about the incident in Mahoning County, accusing Acton of having a drinking problem, and throwing in a reference to the case of actor Jussie Smollett, who staged a hate crime against him in Chicago in 2019:

Why are Democrats lying and saying that @amyactonoh was assaulted by a man with a gun to pretend like he pulled a gun on her? This is a blatant lie.

The man was armed (it’s not illegal to carry a gun in America) and he’s already been released by police with no bail. Amy should change her name to Amy Smollett.

Democrats want to distract from Amy’s drinking and the fact that everyone is accusing her of being drunk yesterday during her campaign event, so the Dems are now pretending like someone planned a mass shooting at her event to get people to stop talking about her drinking.

We know Amy likes to drink to the point of being belligerent. I released the police report from when her own daughter called the cops on her for a domestic issue and said, “mom has been drinking”. You want to talk about injuries? Let’s talk about all of the people Amy Acton injured in Ohio during her COVID lockdowns.

The man with the gun killed zero people. How many people did Amy Acton kill in Ohio with her lockdowns when she was Ohio’s Health Director? The people of Ohio deserve accountability for the harm Amy Acton inflicted upon them. Drunk Amy has no business serving as Ohio’s next Governor!

She followed up with another X post with video of Acton from the event, asking, “Does this woman look sober to you?”

Acton, 60, a pediatrician and former head of the Ohio Health Department during the Covid-19 pandemic, is facing off against Republican Vivek Ramaswamy for the governor’s mansion, as incumbent Gov. Mike DeWine (R) is term-limited.

The pair have been running neck-and-neck in the polls.

Acton was unhurt in the Canfield incident.
