Israeli Ambassador Calls for Mamdani’s Arrest in Fox News Interview

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is the one who should be arrested, Israel Ambassador Danny Danon proclaimed in a fiery hit on Fox News.

Danon, speaking Tuesday with Fox News anchor John Roberts, wasn’t shy about what he thought of Mamdani:

JOHN ROBERTS: All right, let’s bring in the Israeli ambassador to the United States. Mr. Ambassador good to have you with us today. Why don’t we start there?

We know that Mayor Mamdani does not have the authority to arrest your prime minister, but he’s encouraging the federal government to do so — which it never would. I mean, what do you think of what Mamdani is floating?

DANNY DANON: No, it’s very dangerous, what the mayor is doing. It’s irresponsible. We see this traffic today in New York City.

Dozens of heads of state sitting down instead of the security of the well being of the visitors and residents of New York he’s inciting against Israeli prime minister.

But you know, we’re not surprised. He supported Hamas. He said officials from the City Council to meet with the representative of Iran — it’s shameful, if someone should be arrested, Mayor Mamdani should be arrested for his behavior.

Prime Minister Netanyahu will come here on Thursday. Will speak in the general assembly, and the only thing the mayor can do is listen to the word of the prime minister.

ROBERTS: Well, if I were to make a prediction, I would predict that neither one of them gets arrested. But that’s just me.

The ambassador’s stinging words come on the heels of a video message Netanyahu posted on X, in which he slammed the mayor as a Hamas supporter.

“Shame on you, Mr. Mamdani. Shame on you for supporting the Hamas terrorist monsters who butchered our people. Shame on you for inciting riots against New York Jews,” Netanyahu said in a fiery video message on X.

Mamdani clapped back at Netanyahu Tuesday at an news conference.

“We all know that what the prime minister has said in that video is not true,” Mamdani told reporters.
“What we do know to actually be the truth when it comes to the prime minister is that he is the subject of an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity. And as the prime minister, he is the architect of a horrific genocide against Palestinians. And just a few days ago, killed an 11-year-old boy in what is deemed to be a safe zone in Gaza.”
Mamdani has repeatedly labeled Netanyahu a “war criminal” and told The New York Times in July he was in “active” conversations with his Law Department as to whether he had the legal authority to throw the prime minister in a jail cell.

“He’s a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court,” the mayor said. “And what you will find is that is an opinion that is held by many, purely because of what his actions have wrought over these last many years.”

Earlier this year during an appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press, Mamdani called the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel a war crime.

“I want to make very clear: I think that October 7th was a horrific war crime. I think that Hamas is a terrorist organization. And I think that any violation of international law is something that should be opposed. And I believe that because I have a belief in universal politics, whether it applies to here at New York City or anywhere across the world,” he said during the appearance.
