‘Human Scum!’ Chris Cuomo Clashes With Bill O’Reilly Over Trump Admin Placating Putin
Chris Cuomo and Bill O’Reilly sparred Thursday over President Donald Trump’s relationship with Vladimir Putin.
For Cuomo, there is only one solution in terms of countering what Putin has wrought on Ukraine: “You treat Putin like the human scum he is.”
For O’Reilly, there’s more to understanding Putin and his relationship with Trump, and what the latter says matters. O’Reilly argued:
What the president says, and he says, ‘I’m not going to get involved with this because I don’t want to muck it up, because we’re very close to a ceasefire in Ukraine.’ So that you walk through it. Donald Trump wants the killing in Ukraine to stop, and that’s a fact. And he told me that years ago, [he] wants it to stop. Putin likes the killing in Ukraine. He enjoys it. A one-year-old blown up in a stroller makes his night. All right. So you got nowhere to go with Putin on a humanitarian basis. You don’t have anywhere to go with it.
The next step is deploying “flattery.”
And Trump tonight said ‘I wouldn’t call Putin a humanitarian,’ but quickly got off the subject, because he doesn’t want to alienate Vlad. So, there is no Plan B. There’s no Plan B at all. Putin’s not going to stop until you bribe him, and the first salvo of that was to lift the embargo off the oil so he can make money. Putin gets a cut of everything that comes into Russia. He’s richest man in the world.
But Cuomo disagreed. He offered another option: “Force.”
People who know Vladimir Putin and have studied him for decades say he only respects and understands one stimulus, force, and concern of what happens to him. I’m not saying military force. I’m saying the sanctions doing kind of like what they’ve been doing well in Iran. Well, but I mean, you give Ukraine everything that it needs to continue its attacks because you have not done that. Instead of throttling their ability to defense to defend themselves like they did with the Starlings, to treat Putin like like the human scum he is.
