‘How Many Thousands?’ Hannity Confronts Rahm Emanuel On Number of People Shot and Killed When He Was Mayor

Sean Hannity sparred with former Chicago mayor and likely 2028 Democratic Party presidential contender Rahm Emanuel this week on his podcast-style show Hang Out with Sean Hannity.

Emanuel pulled no punches in claiming that President Donald Trump’s corruption is “ruining” the country in one of the more tense moments in the lengthy interview. Hannity hit back at Emanuel later on by bringing up his record on crime while he was mayor.

“How many people do you think were shot while you were mayor? Do you know?” Hannity asked.

“Yeah, it’s in the thousands,” Emanuel conceded.

“How many thousands?” Hannity pressed.

“It would be close to about 15,000 or so,” Emanuel replied.

“No, 23,900. How many people do you think were shot and killed?” Hannity followed up.

“Maybe—so it would be about 2,300 of my 10—” Emanuel said as Hannity answered for him, “2,500? 3,000? Well, you had 3,800 shot and killed, 4,350 homicides—people shot and killed and then killed other ways. I bet if I asked you to name 10 of them, you probably couldn’t, could you?”

“No, but I made a habit and a practice of visiting everyone that was a child,” Emanuel replied.

“Everyone that had a child?” Hannity asked.

“Every child that was shot,” Emanuel clarified.

“Did you visit the grandmother whose little girl was shot in the back in her yard? Do you remember that little girl that was in her grandmother’s front yard?” Hannity pressed.

“The little girl that was killed selling candy in the front yard,” Emanuel agreed.
