Washington D.C. residents weren’t the only ones complaining about President Donald Trump’s Air Force One flyover stunt, as even a pilot and air traffic control were caught on tape griping about the much-criticized episode.
“How many more fly-bys is he doing?” a pilot asked at 5:49 p.m. Thursday, according to air traffic control recordings cited by The Washington Post.
“Hopefully that’s the last,” an air traffic controller answered, according to the outlet.
The aircraft, which is typically only identified as Air Force One when the president is aboard, was used Thursday evening for an ultra-low flyover over the White House during a Halloween event hosted by Trump and first lady Melania Trump.
The plane made two passes over the area but scared folks on the ground who had little notice of the planned event.
NASCAR on TNT host Shannon Spake caught the flyover.
“Air Force One just flew right over us! Twice. People on the streets of DC saying they’ve never seen this!” she wrote on X, tagging the president and the White House in her post.
The White House called the flyover “special” in its own X post.
Other residents caught numerous videos of how low the aircraft flew:
Airspace over Washington, D.C. — which was the site of one of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks when terrorists slammed a plane into the Pentagon and which endured a plane crash just last year — is typically quite restricted.
The local D.C. Council noted on X that they had a measly 15 minutes notice on the stunt.
“This flyover provided just fifteen minutes notice to anyone in downtown DC, at the Pentagon, or at National Airport. It startled many, including us,” the council wrote.
