House Republican Feuding With Trump Visits MSNBC to Pour Cold Water on Iran Ceasefire: Is Trump a Party’ to the Deal?

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) — who has been engaged in a bitter feud with President Donald Trump in recent days — visited MSNBC Monday night to pour cold water on the president’s announcement of a ceasefire deal between Israel and Iran.

Speaking with Chris Hayes on MSNBC’s All In, the Kentucky congressman questioned whether the U.S. is a party to the agreement announced by Trump on his Truth Social platform.

“This ceasefire so far doesn’t mention anything about what our bombing of Iran was predicated on — which is destroying a so-called nuclear program,” Massie said. “Well, does this mean that Trump’s a party to the ceasefire? He says that Iran and Israel are. I hope the United States is as well. Because if it’s not, we’re gonna have to push this through Congress.”

Hayes credited Massie with making an “excellent point” — and posed that question, and several others, to his other guest, Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA)

“Honestly, I’m on air right now, we’re trying to process this, and it’s kind of hard to have a take — because I don’t know what we’re looking at, right?” Hayes said. “It’s just totally unclear to me … what did the bombs do? What has been agreed to? What are the terms of the ceasefire? Is the U.S. a party?”

“No, there are a lot of unanswered questions,” Khanna said. “We don’t even have a consistent statement from the administration. The vice president is saying that they still have nuclear fuel to make 10 bombs. Well, if that’s the case, then what was accomplished?”

As for the personal feud with Trump, Massie, earlier in the interview said simply, “The president’s declared war against me so much, I think he needs an act of Congress to validate this.”
