Enraged Ontario Premier Doug Ford fumed that President Donald Trump “can kiss my a** in the latest salvo of the U.S.-Canada trade war.
Ford, speaking to CTV on Monday, unloaded on Trump after the president ramped up the trade war with 50 percent tariffs, which Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney pledged to match “dollar-for-dollar.”
“Well, he can kiss my a** as far as I’m concerned,” Ford said in an interview with CTV on Monday. “We’re gonna go at him full-steam.”
He added: “We need to throw everything and the kitchen sink at him. He’s arrogant, he’s cocky, and you know — as Ronald Reagan said — if you come to a draw with a bully, what stops that bully from coming at you the next day, and the next day? And that’s all Donald Trump is is a bully. He’s gonna have a rude awakening.”
Ford also threatened to cut off electricity to U.S. manufacturing facilities.
“He might as well call up the Energizer Bunny, because he should be powering his facilities,” Ford said.
Earlier Monday, Trump accused Canada of “ripping off” the United States, and declared, “WE DON’T NEED CANADA, THEY NEED US!” while presenting his plans for tariffs on Canada.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said, “Canada has been ripping off the United States of America for years. Their ridiculously high tariffs on our Farmers and farm products has made life impossible for these great American Patriots, and has long created a 60 Billion Dollar Deficit between our two Countries.”
Trump continued, “Not sustainable, and NOT ANYMORE! On January First, 2027, Tariffs on all Cars, Trucks, both large and small, Automotive Parts, and Steel, will be increased to 50%. Build in the U.S. and there are ZERO TARIFFS. Canada will be treated like a State no longer! On Trade, and in other ways, also, they are among the worst Nations in the World to deal with. They feel entitled, and yet, WE DON’T NEED CANADA, THEY NEED US! They do 95% of their business with the U.S., with us, the exact opposite! Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
