Harvey Weinstein Sentenced to 15 Years for Sexually Assaulting Television Production Assistant
Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 15 years behind bars for sexually assaulting a television production assistant in 2006 — the second time he’s been sentenced in the case.
Weinstein is expected to appeal the sentence for assaulting television production assistant Miriam Haley at his apartment, according to the Associated Press.
The disgraced movie mogul was first convicted in 2020 but the verdict was later overturned. Another jury found Weinstein guilty in June 2025.
Fox News’ Harris Faulkner reported the sentencing and noted Haley’s powerful victim impact statement in the case:
Prosecutors say Weinstein assaulted a former television production assistant Miriam Haley at his Manhattan apartment in 2006. A jury convicted him in that case in March of 2020. Haley gave a powerful victim impact statement saying that Weinstein abused position and power and caused devastation for her. She called it a life sentence for her. Weinstein has already served more than six years behind bars was his case cycled through the law system.
Weinstein, 74, has long denied allegations of rape and sexual assault from multiple women.
“Having been sexually assaulted by Harvey Weinstein has had a devastating effect on my life and sense of security that may never go away. Making the decision to speak up will have me looking over my shoulder for years to come,” Haley told the court Wednesday during her victim impact statement.
“It’s a life sentence for me.”
“I’ve been further traumatized in exercising my right to hold him accountable. All of this traces back to his actions,” she added.
Weinstein admitted having “remorse for Miriam Haley’s pain,” before again proclaiming his innocence to the judge.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg issued a statement Wednesday praising Haley after Weinstein’s sentencing.
“Today was about the survivors. Ms. Haley, her remarks were powerful, moving, and eloquent. I thank her first and foremost, and all of the survivors who came to lend their support. I’m moved, as we should all be moved, by their courage and their steadfastness through what has obviously been a challenging process.”
