Kathy Castor is expected to stay in office in Florida’s US House 14 race after staving off a challenge from Republican Mike Beltran, Decision Desk HQ reported Tuesday night.

Castor faced a strong redistricting attempt by Republicans to gain one of four House seats. The win is a potential sign Democrats could regain control of the House.

Castor was first elected as a member of Congress in 2007, and has represented the state’s 14th district since 2013.

Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis expressed support for redistricting in the state soon after similar efforts in Texas proved successful in 2025. DeSantis called for a special session on congressional redistricting in January of this year.

Beltran was endorsed by President Donald Trump in September but distanced himself from the president as the midterms drew nearer. He also removed mentions of the president from his website.
