Fox’s Jesse Watters Complains About Having to Talk WNBA on ‘The Five’ — Flat Out Says ‘I Don’t Want to Push This Story Anymore’
Fox News host Jesse Watters made it clear Wednesday that he had no interest whatsoever in talking about the WNBA on The Five.
Halfway through the episode, the panel discussed the ongoing saga between ex-NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom and the WNBA. Months earlier, Kanter declared for the league’s upcoming draft. The move was a clear anti-trans publicity stunt that received little attention from the WNBA itself despite the story making national headlines. Kanter was also kicked out of an arena when he got into an alteration with the a player in the middle of a game.
On Wednesday afternoon, Kanter revealed he received a letter from the league responding to these stunts. In the letter, the league said that only women were eligible to play in the WNBA and that “the individuals you cite in your letter are both men.”
Reacting to the letter on The Five, Watters revealed he was completely uninterested in the story and had nothing to contribute to the conversation.
“Wake me up when someone throws a sex toy back on the court,” Watters said.
“I hate the story. I hate the WNBA. I don’t watch it. No one watches it. They average under a million viewers during the regular season, and it’s boring. And the only time we talk about it is like, they fouled the white star too hard or someone wore a t-shirt.”
Greg Gutfeld then brought up the clip of Atlanta Dream players walking back to the locker room during the national anthem. Still, Watters wasn’t amused.
“OK, great,” Watters said. “No one saw it because no one’s watching. I don’t want to push this story anymore! I want to leave this story alone! I am no longer talking about the WNBA. As of now, I boycott this segment. I will just cede my time to anybody but Greg.”
Kanter Freedom also claimed he was booted from a WNBA game for the second time, posting to X Thursday night that he tried to enter State Farm Arena to watch Angel Reese’s Atlanta Dream in its playoff contest.
“I just got kicked out of a @WNBA game for the second time in a row for supporting WOMEN!”
