Jacqui Heinrich, the senior White House correspondent at Fox News, blasted President Donald Trump’s administration for restricting a journalist’s access over questions the president didn’t like, condemning the move as outright “retaliation.”

Heinrich, the president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, wrote on social media Wednesday:

The White House Correspondents’ Association strongly objects to the decision to restrict a journalist’s coverage simply because the president didn’t care for their questioning. That is retaliation. The American public’s right to an independent press depends on reporters being able to do their jobs without fear that challenging the president will cut off their access.

Her words come just minutes after Semafor’s Max Tani reported that The Independent’s Andrew Feinberg, though scheduled as tomorrow’s print pooler, “confirms to me that, without explanation, the White House told him today that he would no longer be the print pooler on Trump’s Thursday trip.”

The president is set to head to Sioux City, Iowa, to rally for Republican candidates.

And this news comes just a day after Trump lashed out at Feinberg in the Oval Office, even pointing at the reporter and warning, “I don’t know who the hell you are, but you better be careful.”

Feinberg first questioned Trump about his administration’s plan to offer a 1% commission to whistleblowers who uncover federal fraud, prompting pushback from Vice President JD Vance. Then came a question about the president’s golf courses, to which Trump growled at Feinberg to be “quiet” before snapping, “What’s wrong with you? Are you a sick person?”

“Not that I know of, Sir,” the reporter responded.

“I actually think there’s something wrong with you,” the president barked.

When Trump announced his since-overturned ban on MS NOW, Politico, and CNN last month, Heinrich wrote that the move “violates the First Amendment,” calling on the administration to “immediately restore our colleagues’ access.”
