Fox Anchor Throws Down With Progressive Activist Over El-Sayed In Heated Exchange: ‘Totally Different!’

Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum got into a heated debate with progressive Democratic Party activist Corbin Trent on Thursday’s episode of her show, The Story.

MacCallum pressed Trent on why Michigan Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed repeatedly refused to say whether Israel or Iran was a bigger threat to the U.S. She introduced the conversation by playing her interview with Pete Buttigieg from the day before, where he unequivocally answered that Israel is an ally and Iran is an enemy of the U.S.

MacCallum asked, “And your thoughts on how this keeps coming up for al-Sayed and why he doesn’t effectively put it to rest, like Buttigieg did just there?”

“I mean, he’s put it to rest so many times. It just keeps getting asked and asked and asked. And that’s the irritating thing about our media across the board. You know, everybody wants to talk about fake media, fake media, fake news. Yeah. And it’s frustrating to see so much fake news,” Trent replied, adding:

You’ve got people that ask questions that have so little to do with our daily lives. Like, I don’t know that many people here in East Tennessee that went to bed at night worried about whether or not Iran was going to attack us. It’s not something we were concerned about. It’s not something I was concerned about. It’s not something that even the National Intelligence Director was concerned about. She said, when it was happening, that the Iranians were not seeking a bomb. Like, you know, the funny thing is that even our intelligence agencies were not

MacCallum pushed back, “I gotta jump in, these are just basic questions of American citizens, okay?”

“And especially if you want to be on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee,” MacCallum said as Trent added, “I don’t think they are.”
MacCallum spoke over Trent, concluding, “You have to be able to understand who is our enemy and who is our ally. That is an easy, easy question, okay? You can say, well, I have an issue with the leadership in Israel right now, but it’s easy to answer that question..”

Trent hit back, “Our president right now is making deals with Russia for billions of gallons, or billions of barrels, of diesel, even though it’s going to do nothing for the American people. And he’s getting a lot of pushback for that.”

MacCallum added, “And he’s getting a lot of pushback for that, and we’ll see where that goes. But that’s a very important–

Things got more heated from there; here is the rest of the exchange:

Trent: And then he’s also cozying up, he gives, yeah, he gives his praise to North Korean dictators. I mean, you know, the problem is that we’ve got this weird bubble.

MacCallum: So you’re saying it’s okay if El-Sayed is friends with the Muslim Brotherhood and he supports their mission of eradicating Israel?

Trent: I think that it was definitely okay to be in favor of the Arab Spring. You know who else was in favor of the Arab Spring and then cheered on the Muslim Brotherhood?

MacCallum: Totally different! Completely different foreign policy.

Trent: It was John McCain.

MacCallum: Completely different foreign policy issue. John McCain. That was a freedom push. Absolutely. Yeah, that was a totally different issue. Totally different issue, no parallel whatsoever. I don’t want to go down this rabbit hole any further with you.

Trent: The Muslim Brotherhood was part of that push, period.

MacCallum: The Muslim Brotherhood has founded Hamas, has backed the proxies, Iran’s proxies, all over the Middle East. They want an end to Israel.

Trent:I tell you what, down here in the hollers, this is why it should be an easy question. Down here in the holler…

MacCallum: Let me get Matt in here. Matt, you…

Trent: You start coming in and you start coming in and killing people, and you know what the holler is gonna do? It’s gonna push back. That’s the reason people around here want the Second Amendment.

MacCallum: That’s your viewpoint.

Trent: That’s where some of these folks come from.

Trent: Look, that’s your viewpoint. I disagree, and I think a lot of people would, just in terms of basic American foreign policy, but I want to get Matt.
