Fox Anchor Presses Lara Trump On Why the Prez Isn’t Spending to Help Ken Paxton, Who He Endorsed

Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum spoke to President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump on Wednesday and asked her about why Trump has yet to spend on behalf of Ken Paxton in his bid for the U.S. Senate in Texas.

“Lara, what is your take on this Texas race? One of the complaints has been that the Trump PAC, you know, is flush with cash — $400 million — and hasn’t committed it to this race for the candidate that the president says he supports,” MacCalllum pressed Lara Trump, who is also a Fox News colleague.

“Well, I think you’ll certainly see a lot of that money spent, and there’s no doubt this president will be out campaigning in Texas and all over the country, Martha. I mean, we know that Donald Trump is the king of campaigning, right?” Lara Trump replied, adding:

He loves a good rally, and we will definitely see him out there. But the Texas race is interesting. This is an important race, not just for the Senate seat, but for what else happens in Texas and the down-ballot races as well.

Obviously, Texas has been solidly red for a long time. They have not elected a Democrat to a Senate seat there since 1988. And so the fear is that if the GOP turnout isn’t high enough, it’s not just about the Senate seat — it’s obviously about House races and the state legislature. And so you have a state like Texas that has, again, been a very Republican state for a long time, that if we’re not able to turn people out in that state, it could look very different.

It might not just impact the Senate and the balance of power in Congress, but the state as a whole. And so, look, the president is going to be all in on this. He will definitely be out campaigning, and you will for sure see that money spent. I think they just want it to go to its highest and best use, and use it at the appropriate time.

Paxton’s lack of a lead in his race against James Talarico has led to alarm bells going off inside the GOP. Karl Rove warned on Wednesday that “Time is running out. If the president wants to have Paxton win, he needs to be tossing a lot of money Paxton’s way.”
