Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed told ABC News’s Linsey Davis this week that he does not believe Israel is an ally to the United States.

The Michigan Democrat has made similar statements in the past, but his latest comment to Davis is the most direct yet in outright declaring he does not view Israel as a friendly nation to the United States.

“So you don’t consider Israel to be an American ally?” Davis asked during the lengthy sit-down for her All Access show.

“An ally that takes your money to push you into wars you shouldn’t be fighting is not an ally. It’s like, I mean, do you have kids?” El-Sayed replied.

“I do,” Davis answered.

“And if your kid has a friend who keeps bumming off their money, and then talks about them behind their back, and then gets them into fights with other friends, what would you tell your kid to do with that friend? You’d probably tell them, maybe it’s not actually a friend. I think it’s time for us to realize that Israel is not actually our friend,” El-Sayed concluded.

Last week, the progressive star told MS NOW in a Thursday interview that “the government of Israel has done nothing but use us” and “has done terrible things with our money.”

“Netanyahu is one part of it, but the Israeli military has done heinous things, like heinous things, full war crimes, genocide,” added El-Sayed.

“So I think we got to just get serious about whether or not we as a country should be subsidizing that government,” he added.

In a previous debate with his Republican opponent Mike Rogers, El-Sayed refused to say whether or not he viewed Israel or Iran as a greater threat to the U.S. – sparking an avalanche of fury among his critics. His latest remark also sparked a heated debate online.

Anti-Trump activist Amy Siskind replied to El-Sayed’s latest comments to ABC, writing, “This is rough. And definitely not the position of the vast majority of Senate Democrats (actually are there any?), especially in a purple state. I guess the calculus this late in the game, when the race is razor tight, is that he has a winning coalition put together without a majority of Jewish voters – and with a disproportionately low number of Black voters. We’ll see soon enough if this was a wise move.”

Former GOP congressman turned Democrat, Joe Walsh, added, “He says Israel is NOT our ally. NOT our ally. Look, hate Netanyahu all you want, oppose the current Israeli government all you want, but if you don’t believe Israel is our ally, you don’t belong in the U.S. Senate. No Jew in Michigan who supports the state of Israel should vote for him. He just plain hates Israel. F*ck.”
