Dem Candidate Deletes Numerous Posts Cheering Open Borders, Blasting Older Dems: ‘F*ck You… Hurry Up and Die’

A Democratic congressional candidate is distancing himself from now-deleted social posts in which he cheered for open borders, promoted a Democratic Party “civil war,” and blasted the nuclear family as part of a “violent way or organizing society.”

CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski dropped a KFile report on Friday revealing numerous social media posts made by Michigan congressional candidate William Lawrence under a previous X account.

The posts, dating back to 2020, include Lawrence, now 36, going after moderate Democrats like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), calling for an end to fossil fuels and cheering the “defund the police” movement, to name a few.

Lawrence is running to represent Michigan’s highly competitive 7th district against incumbent Rep. Tom Barrett (R-MI).

“If you have your own home when you’re single, you’ll likely end up with a nuclear family home if you get married/have kids. And the nuclear family home is an isolating, individualistic, violent way of organizing society. I don’t want to be part of that,” Lawrence wrote in a 2022 post, one of multiple rants against nuclear families.

The candidate raged against “timid Dems” speaking out against the more progressive wing of their party.

“Timid Dems better learn how to deal with it and stop blaming us for their own failure to communicate. Or they can leave the Party,” he wrote in 2020.

In a 2021 post, Lawrence encouraged Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to challenge Schumer.

“AOC primary Chuck Schumer challenge!Leadership have failed their jobs. It’s time for the Dem civil war to rage,” he wrote.

In one post aimed at older generations of Democrats, Lawrence fashioned together some lyrics in 2021 based on a Fallout Boy song that read: “So long, thanks for the memories. Our generation says f*ck you for everything. From these ashes we will rebuild. Hurry up and die so that we can get started.”

Lawrence, who let his membership to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) lapse last month, has been distancing himself from some of the more far-left positions. In a statement to CNN, he chalked up some of his past social media posts to “thinking out loud.”

“Like many millennials, I’ve done my fair share of thinking out loud on the internet. I’ve been clear that I disagree today with some things I posted in the past. I don’t support defunding the police or open borders,” he said.

The candidate added that he still believes in being critical of the “political status quo, and the obscene concentration of wealth and power that corrupts our politics and leaves working people unrepresented.”
