‘Dangerous Direction’: House Dems Sound the Alarm on Far-Left’s 10/7 ‘Resistance’ Rally

House Democrat Ritchie Torres (D-NY) joined the chorus of critics slamming the upcoming “resistance” rally to be put on by anti-Zionist groups in front of New York City Hall to mark the third anniversary of the October 7th terror attacks in southern Israel.
Luke Tress, the New York correspondent for the Times of Israel, shared screenshots Monday of the social media posts promoting the event, which were also shared by the Young Democratic Socialists of America. Tress noted, “Anti-Zionist groups announce a ‘resistance’ rally outside New York’s City Hall on October 7, criticize [Zohran] Mamdani for ‘betrayal.’”
Torres also shared a flyer for the rally and wrote, “The far left sees October 7th—the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust—not as an occasion to mourn the 1,200 Israelis murdered in an act of terror but as an occasion to romanticize the mass murder of Jews as ‘resistance.’” He added:
The inevitable consequence of glorifying political violence is political violence itself. That is the dangerous direction in which American politics seems to be heading.
Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) also posted, “Let’s be clear: choosing the third anniversary of October 7 to glorify the barbaric murder of 1,200 people, including Americans, as ‘resistance’ is deeply offensive and morally bankrupt.”
“In America, we don’t glorify terrorists as ‘martyrs.’ We condemn them. When you glorify political violence, you only invite more of it,” he added.
Conservative “Never Trump” pundit Jonah Goldberg added, “Just curious, for the purported normies who insist the anti-Zionist radicals aren’t pro-terrorism, what is the best argument you can make in defense of holding a “resistance” rally on 10/7? And if you can’t make one, what’s the best case for why people shouldn’t judge politicians and activists who refuse to condemn this?”
Chief US Reporter and UN Correspondent for The Times Josie Ensor replied to Tress and asked, “Interesting! Did the NYC-YDCA delete this post after you screengrabbed?”
“Yes, looks like they took it down. Other posts still list them as a sponsor,” Tress replied, linking to a post from the CUNY School of Law Students for Justice in Palestine post, which read:
October 7th marks three years of the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people, one of the deadliest ongoing and globally broadcasted massacres in modern history.
October 7th marks three years since resistance against imperialism changed the fate of our world forever.
In New York City, Mayor Zohran Mamdani campaigned on promises to the Palestine movement. He has betrayed his own alleged values, failing to make those promises a reality. Instead, he has repeatedly capitulated to zionist pressure: Criminalizing protests against the sale of stolen Palestinian land in New York City through the passage of the NYC Council Bill Intro 1-B; allowing the NYPD to surveil, arrest, and violently suppress protests against these illegal land sales; and most recently, pledging $1 million tax dollars to the “Strategy to Combat Anti-Semitism“ which will provide security infrastructure for zionist synagogues which host illegal real estate sales of stolen Palestinian land.
We denounce the Mayor’s meaningless words of alleged solidarity with the Palestinian people followed by capitulation to zionist pressure.
🇵🇸 Join us on October 7th at 4pm outside City Hall to hear the student movement’s demands to the Mayor of New York City.🇵🇸 Join us to honor our martyrs, prisoners, and liberators, and to remind New York City that we will not rest until the complete liberation of the Palestinian people.
