The Daily Caller tweeted and deleted a bizarre image that juxtaposed Bill Gates with the devil and featured Jeffrey Epstein wearing an Israeli-flag adorned Speedo last week, Semafor reported Monday.

“The Daily Caller posted and then deleted a strange cartoon image of Bill Gates, the devil, and Jeffrey Epstein wearing a Speedo with an Israeli flag on it,” Maxi Tani wrote in today’s media newsletter. “On Thursday, the right-wing digital media outlet shared an aggregated piece about Gates’ concerns about the power of artificial intelligence. In a post quoting the piece, the organization posted the image along with the caption, “We trust you Bill!” The post was quickly deleted, but not before someone could flag it to Semafor.” Tani also shared the image on X.

A spokesperson for The Daily Caller told Tani, “The post reflected poor judgment and was quickly removed. The matter has been addressed internally, and while we don’t believe there was any malicious intent, we made clear that the post fell short of our standards.”

The Semafor newsletter also linked to a tweet from The Daily Caller that reads, “So, a 70-year-old billionaire with ties to the world’s most famous convicted sex trafficker wants to help manage AI risks… Sounds like we should trust him!”

Gates spoke to CNN’s Jake Tapper about AI on October 11, a conversation The Daily Caller reported on. “And so the real danger right now is not that AI is getting out of control,” he said in part. “‘We need to work on that, but that’s years away in terms of the big impact that might have. It’s really bad people using AI, particularly in AI, where you can take out all the safeguards.”

The Microsoft founder has repeatedly admitted to regretting his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. The pair met in 2011 and remained in contact until 2014. Gates admitted in February that he had affairs with at least two Russian women he claimed to have met outside his association with Epstein.
