‘Careful With the Stairs!’ Trump Gets Trolled on His Way Inside UN — 1 Year After Infamous Escalator Mishap

President Donald Trump was trolled as he made his way to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday when someone referenced last year’s escalator controversy.

Trump arrived at the UN headquarters Tuesday morning, where he was set to address the international community and provide updates on the war in Iran. As he took the escalator up, someone decided to remind the president of last year’s mishap .

“Be careful with the stairs!” the woman shouted from the crowd of assebled media.

The remark drew a few laughs from the crowd.

Last year, Trump’s entrance became the subject of conspiracy theories when the escalator suddenly stopped while he and First Lady Melania Trump were on it. They walked up the rest of the way, but Trump later said on Truth Social that it was one of three “sinister events” that occurred at the UN.

He also called for an “immediate investigation” into the events, suggesting the escalator malfunction was actually a deliberate act.

A UN spokesperson later explained that Trump’s own team was to blame for the escalator situation. In a statement, the spokesperson said that a videographer ran ahead of Trump’s entourage and triggered some kind of emergency stop at the top of the escalator.

Trump also complained about his teleprompter malfunctioning at the UN, but another UN official claimed the White House was in charge of it.
