James Talarico Ditches Belief There Are 6 Biological Sexes in Interview With Fox News: ‘I’ve Missed the Mark’

Texas Senate candidate James Talarico (D) said his math was “obviously” all wrong — he used to think there were six biological sexes, but he now believes there are only two.

Talarico ditched his old stance after being pressed by Fox News correspondent Brooke Taylor to explain it in an interview with the right-leaning channel on Wednesday afternoon.

“During the 2021 hearing, you said there are six biological sexes. Do you still believe that, standing here with me right now?” Taylor asked.

“No, I’ve missed the mark with some of my past statements. I will be the first to admit it,” Talarico said. “What I meant is that there are two sexes, and then there’s a small percentage of people with genetic abnormalities. Obviously I didn’t say it correctly — there are not six sexes, there are two.”

The liberal state rep then pivoted to bashing Republican politicians for focusing on the comment, saying they wanted to talk about his belief there were six sexes because “they don’t want to talk about $6 diesel.”

He was asked the question after his 2021 claim there are “six really common biological sexes” was reported by the Washington Examiner.

“The point is that, biologically speaking, scientifically speaking, sex is a spectrum, and oftentimes can be very ambiguous,” Talarico said at the time.

Taylor then asked Talarico what he would say to Texans who felt he was only doing a “drastic 180” to try and get their vote, before he would revert to being a hardcore progressive once elected.

Talarico said they should simply look at his legislative history to judge him, before turning the conversation again to Republicans. He said his record looks much better when compared to his opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), whom Talarico accused of “enriching himself on the public’s dime.”

His interview with Fox News coincided with the first-ever GOP midterm convention kicking off in Dallas.

President Donald Trump — who has endorsed Paxton, despite having issues with how he dresses — is slated to speak on both nights of the event. But he is getting there a little later than planned, after the slide on Air Force One accidentally deployed on Wednesday afternoon, forcing the president to wait on the runway.

Trump has been hitting the panic button on Texas recently, with the president warning last week if the state turns Blue, he “will be the last Republican president and our country will live in hell!”

Beyond flipping his stance on biological sexes, Talarico also walked back his claim “God is non-binary” when Taylor asked him about it, at least a bit.

“I was being provocative with that statement. I get that,” Talarico said. “What I was trying to say is that you can’t use human categories to define God. And that’s not controversial theologically.”
