‘I Don’t Trust Them Ever!’ Bill Maher Teams Up With George Santos to Attack Media
Bill Maher agrees with President Donald Trump: much of the media is nothing more than fake news.
The veteran comic went off on the mainstream press during a Monday interview with congressman-turned-convict George Santos on his Club Random podcast, with Maher venting outlets are more interested in peddling their slants than actually conveying the news.
“They wanna shove their narrative down your gizzard!” That’s what they want to do,” Maher said.
That came a moment after Santos said he had lied about a lot of stuff in his past — but not all of it. Santos said he was still baffled by a 2023 story from Bloomberg, which reported the ex-Republican lawmaker told potential donors he had produced a Spider-Man musical on Broadway. Santos said the media also whiffed by reporting he had a brain tumor; he said he never made either claim, although he is on video saying he “battled a brain tumor.”
After hearing that, Maher said he completely agreed with Santos on the media being sloppy as hell.
“When you present the case, ‘Well the media got this wrong,’ my immediate reaction just is not, ‘Well, the media doesn’t get things wrong,'” Maher said. “My reaction is ‘Yeah, you know what, that could very well be true.’I don’t trust them, EVER. Any of them. I have to read three of them to get the full story. Nobody ever has any interest in telling you the full story.”
Santos backed him up, saying “We live in a time with the media where I’m very critical of it, because nobody is interested in being right, they’re interested in being first. And if they have to make corrections later, they don’t care. They don’t care about the consequences.”
“You’re so right,” Maher added.
And perhaps ironically, Maher and Santos sounded a lot like the president, on the same morning Trump bashed Maher for his HBO ratings being “so low.”
“In many ways it’s SAD because, in actuality, I like him,” Trump added.
