‘He’s Cooked!’ Bill Maher Trashes ‘Maniac’ Trump in First Podcast After Latest Dinner
They’re back to being dinner buddies, but that didn’t stop Bill Maher from criticizing President Donald Trump on the Monday episode of his Club Random podcast.
Maher didn’t mince words while telling his guest, actor Michael Douglas, that he doesn’t think the midterm elections are going to go well for the Republicans and Trump.
“I think he’s cooked,” Maher said.
Douglas agreed and said he believed a lot of Republican politicians are in “serious trouble.” The “Falling Down“ star didn’t mention anyone in particular.
Maher — who recorded the show with Douglas before he had his second much-publicized dinner with Trump at the White House last week — jumped back and forth between giving Trump kudos and bashing him.
The Real Time host admitted he and other left-leaning celebrities were a bit “hysterical” about Trump when he first became president.
“It’s been 10 years, let’s be honest — our lives are good,” Maher said. “He didn’t f*ckin’ end the world.”
But he then said he and other liberals had “good reason” to be worried.
“He’s a maniac who does fascist things and pals [around with] dictators and you know, that kind of sh*t,” Maher said. “And ICE and just scary sh*t!”
Douglas similarly said Trump has a “fascist mentality,” before adding he doesn’t like the “unpredictability” of Trump’s presidency.
“Truthfully, I was born in 1944, and this is the worst time I can remember in my lifetime. Not just the states, but worldwide,” Douglas lamented.
Maher was a bit surprised to hear that at first, but then agreed.
Douglas’ conversation with Maher comes as he’s been making the rounds promoting his new book, One Helluva Ride; his media tour included a stop on Joe Rogan’s podcast last week, where Rogan went on a searing rant against the Democrats and their “insane” ideas – a rant he went on right after Douglas told him he’s been a lifelong liberal.
At other points in the show, they were both a little more complimentary of the president. Maher found it hilarious that Trump thought he was going to “go MAGA” after their first White House supper in 2025, but said he was looking forward to the second meal he ended up having last week alongside Trump, Kid Rock, and Stephen A. Smith.
Douglas, meanwhile, said Trump was a “funny guy” and that they used to play golf together.
