South Park is finally following President Donald Trump’s lead.
Weeks after Trump renamed Lake Ontario and made it Lake America amid an ongoing trade war with Canada, and caused a stir by suggesting he’d rename New Mexico as New America, the animated program is giving itself new life.
For its upcoming 29th season, South Park is going to be known as South America, the show announced on X:
Following their Emmy win for Outstanding Animated Program, South Park is making a big change. Creators Trey Parker & Matt Stone announce: “Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA. We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.” The 29th Season of the award-winning series will premiere Wednesday, September 16th, at 10pm ET/PT on Comedy Central. New episodes will be available to stream on Paramount+ around the world, with next-day availability in the U.S., Canada and Australia.
The announcement came with a graphic showing the famed South Park winter scene with a wooden sign that has an American flag planted on the corner and the word America on a green road sign plastered over it.
The new name comes a day after the show — practically prescient for its 1999 tune “Blame Canada” — won an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program for it’s latest season — which skewered Trump
They couldn’t resist needling Trump over the victory.
“You finally got your Emmy,” South Park posted on X alongside an image of its cartoon Trump clutching the award.
South Park is a well-known Trump troll. Past episodes have featured Stan having Trump’s baby — the Antichrist, and a graphic scene involving Trump and Vice President JD Vance in bed.
The show has also gone after Trump administration officials including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, FCC Chair Brendan Carr, and former US Attorney General Pam Bondi.
