CNN’s Kasie Hunt Gives Disclaimer When Introducing Scott Jennings on Panel

CNN anchor Kasie Hunt kicked off her Wednesday show by welcoming conservative pundit Scott Jennings back on her program — and by letting viewers know he may have a new job soon.

“We have to mention to our viewers that Mr. Jennings is reportedly being considered for the role of the next White House press secretary,” Hunt said.

Jennings smirked and shook his head as if to say “it ain’t gonna happen” as Hunt issued her disclaimer, which drew a laugh from the host.

“Scott, welcome back to the show on that note,” she added, before kicking off the panel discussion.

This is becoming a recurring practice for Hunt and Jennings, with the anchor having to issue a similar disclaimer on her show last week. Hunt quipped at the time, “you can continue your audition” to replace Karoline Leavitt as President Donald Trump’s press secretary, after recent reports CNN’s resident conservative commentator is in the running.

The media speculation about who will replace Leavitt has grown louder this week, with the White House set to host its first press briefing since her exit on Thursday; the administration has kept quite about who will step to the podium and speak to reporters.

Still, there are two important guys in this equation who are unsure about Jennings taking the role: Trump and Jennings himself.

The president is reportedly “not quite sold” on Jennings grabbing the job – despite his years of defending MAGA on cable TV — and Jennings poured cold water on the idea as well.

He simply said “No” when asked last week by CNN’s Lulu Garcia-Navarro if he planned on taking over for Levitt, and he didn’t budge much when Kaitlan Collins asked if he had been in touch with the White House.

“I don’t really have anything to say about it other than, I mean, I would get to see you every day,” Jennings said.
