Bill Maher Predicts Dems Will Deliver ‘Historical A**-Whooping’ to Republicans — All Thanks to Trump

Things are about to get ugly for the Republicans — and it’s all President Donald Trump’s fault, according to Bill Maher.

The Real Time host predicted the GOP is going to get absolutely smoked in the 2026 midterms, not because the American people are itching to vote for Democrats, but because they’re sick of Trump’s second term. And the best way to register their displeasure is by shunning Republican candidates next month, he said.

“It’s going to be a classic, historical a**-whooping,” Maher predicted on Sunday.

He told CNN host Fareed Zakaria that Trump got “drunk with power” once he returned to the White House, and that led him to a bunch of unpopular stuff. Maher said the same thing happens with most presidents, like ex-President Joe Biden, who was “too feeble to fight the far-left.” He said Trump came in and appropriately wanted to crack down on illegal immigration — only for his administration to go “too far,” as he put it a few times, and start “shooting people in the street.”

As for the Dems, Maher said most Americans do not love how the party has taken an anti-Israel stance or how it has embraced socialist candidates. But they will choke it down, at least for this year, to let Trump know he is doing a bad job, he argued.

Maher continued:

This electorate right now is saying, “We will get to that issue, right now we have one piece of business in front of us, and that is to let Donald Trump know we don’t like what he did. He went too far, he didn’t keep his word on the things that were important to us, ranging from Epstein to ‘no wars’ to ‘the economies going to be better,’ inflation, gas prices, all that stuff. This is what we need to register our feelings on in 2026. We’ll get to the other stuff later, perhaps. But right now, we have one message: Donald Trump went too far and his party will pay.”

The veteran comic dished his take as the polls have not looked good for Republicans heading into November; every major poll tracked by The New York Times since the start of September has given the Dems an edge in the general congressional ballot.

Watch above.
